With Google in the middle of working on changes in their strategy and Bing taking advantage by winning some market share in the US as well as in the UK it might be worth looking a bit to the east. There Yandex is slowly becoming a force which in the near future might be one we should take into account.

Yandex has been building on both their market share and their features steadily in the past year. And it is starting to show. They not only fired several features out there, they also launched their english version of Yandex.ru, Yandex.com. This version is pretty good to work with actually and might just be an interesting competitor to Google and Bing.

And Yandex is expanding in different ways. They have now announced it has implemented WebVisor, an analytics tool for tracking user behaviour on a website, which they bought late last year. (more…)

Linkdex review: a tool as your new SEO assistant

Linkdex-dashboard

At SES London I talked to the team of Linkdex. They wanted to show me their new tool. To be really honest: many people want to show me what they’ve built so they hope I will blog about it. In some cases I get pleasantly surprised in other cases it is hard for me to hide from those who want free promotion for a sucky tool. In this case that was different. It became clear very quickly that Linkdex had built something which could be very useful for many search marketers out there.

Linkdex offered me the opportunity to play with the tool for a while. I found that the tool is very useful and has a lot of potential. Below you can read my findings and review of the tool. At the end of the review you can sign up to be one of 50 to try out the tool. (more…)

There is a new tool in town. In the past few months Linkdex has been slowly but surely conquering the search world. And they’ve been surprising SEOs around with their functionalities. I myself got the opportunity to play with the tool and will post an extensive review on that tomorrow.

The people from Linkdex however also gave me an opportunity to get a sneak preview of their newest feature. And I was impressed enough to make a small post about that here. Linkdex will be offering a feature which will allow you to see which links were build in the a specific period. This means you will be able to for example see how your competitor is doing or how hard your agency is working for you. (more…)

majestic-index-date

Links! You need links! That is probably one of the major things a marketer hears when he or she is discussing the future and ranking possibilities of their websites. But where to get those links? And how to check if they are there?

The first paragraph you just read is something which many marketers will recognize and it is the reason for existence for many tools out there that give you insight in links. Tools that either use search engines like Google or Yahoo, tools that use other tools and tools that scrape the web themselves. All these tools have one issue however: is the link still there? And how fresh is the link. Majestic SEO, one of the tools that scrape the web themselves, now believe they have the absolute reign when it comes to freshest back link data. They claim that with their tool you can now discover backlinks which were created only 24 hours earlier. (more…)

Majestic has been rolling out new features frequently and has been crawling like crazy. In their last count they had crawled 319,570,555,501 pages and 3,146,399,791,446 Unique URLs. With that it has, so it claims, “the world’s largest link map”.

Best Practices with Link Research Tools

When it comes to link building I use a lot of different tools you’ve probably heard of. To manage links I use the Raven Link Manager and Buzzstream. To find backlinks I use Majesticseo, Linkscape, Sistrix and of course Yahoo Site Explorer. But there’s one other tool I tried about 6 months ago for the first time. I’m talking about Christoph Cemper’s Link Research Tools. To be honest with you I wasn’t convinced about the toolbox in that period. I was struck by the difficult abbreviations Cemper uses and the amount of data I got. But last month I decided to give the Link Research Tools another try, knowing Christoph made a lot of improvements. And I’ve to admit: now I love it. By the way, if you want to try the toolbox, grab your free day pass code from the comments!
