The Tech Bubble in an infographic

tech-bubble-intro

This infographic has been posted on a few more sites, but I didn’t want to leave it out here. Companies like Linkedin and Facebook are overvalued while we are looking at them so it seems quite obvious we are currently in a tech bubble. Again. This infographic shows just how much. (more…)

The Real Cost of Social Media (infographic)

The-Real-Cost-Of-Social-Media-Infographic-intro

Social Media and ROI are a mismatch made in heaven some say. Others believe you actually can make money out of it. The question of how much Social Media actually costs is also one which has been asked quite a lot. And to be really honest, you never really get a straight answer. Maybe this info graphic does give us some insight. (more…)

social-media-monitoring-tools-intro

SEO’s love tools, especially if they have built them themselves. Therefore there are a lot of tools around. Social Media might at first not seem like a ‘tool’ thing, but it sure is, especially when it comes to monitoring.

Socialeyzer decided to ask around about the tools. Who is actually buying the tools, how much are they paying for it, and what are the likes and frustrations. And off course: what are the best ones? The used Kissmetrics to make an infographic out of the answers. (more…)

social-media-sales-funnel-intro

“Social Media is not making us any money!” That is what is generally being said. There is no possible business model and it is all about ‘feeling good’ and ‘connecting to the customer’. Yet everybody believes there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow waiting for us if we do use social media.

It is about time we were going to take social media with more of a ‘business-like’ approach. Starting with this infographic. Right…? (more…)

What do you do when you go social? A Volcano goes live! – by @optimizeyourweb #sesny

inspired-by-iceland

As you are used from State of Search, being the best conference coverage website out there, we are covering SES New York. We have bloggers reporting, but we’ve also decided to take a different angle this year. We have asked a few speakers to describe their own presentation. Because after all, what better coverage than from the source itself? In this post Kristjan Hauksson (optimizeyourweb) who opens up about his homeland and volcanos and connects it to social.

At SES NY I spoke on the session called “Search, PR and the Social Butterfly”, I did the similar session at SES London and apparently they liked it because they asked me back!

As I try to stray away from doing the same slides twice I still find the case study I am doing so motivating that it is worth doing twice, so I am happy to do it at the SES NY also. (more…)

Do search and social match? A talk with Joost de Valk (@yoast) and Olivier Blanchard (@thebrandbuilder)

joost-de-valk-olivier-blanchard

Search and Social. Are they a match made in heaven, are they enemies or are they something which you should do both, but separate from each other? At the Fusion Marketing Experience (#FusionMex) in Brussels this week (I recommend this conference by the way, very insightful one) I had the chance to put a Social Media expert and a Search Expert next to each other to have them discuss the two.

Olivier Blanchard (@thebrandbuilder), author of the book “Social Media ROI” and a well recognized Social Media expert on the subject of actually making it work business wise, and Joost de Valk (@yoast) a well know search and WordPress consultant, talked about their separate knowledge areas but also how they could merge. The video was taped outside so you might here some background noice.
