I met Gemma Birch, Marketing Manager at Webcertain when I was at the International Search Summit in New York. As an organiser of Search London and a keen interest in international SEO, I wanted to find out more about Webcertain and its conferences and training seminars.
When I was in at SMX East this year, I met Matt McGee, Executive News Editor at SearchEngineLand.com & MarketingLand.com, speaker and founder of atu2.com.
When I was at SMX East, I was fortunate to meet and spend time with Debra Mastaler, President of Alliance-Link. Debra is a regular speaker at conferences such as Search Marketing Expo (SMX) and Search Engine Strategies (SES). I wanted to speak to Debra in more detail about the link building industry and the future of link building in SEO.
Day 3 and the last day of SMX New York saw a quieter crowd as the expo had packed up last night. We waved them all a teary goodbye. But there was still plenty of interesting sessions for those staying on at SMX. Here are a few highlights from the day.
If you’ve spent any time in social media you’ve probably used a product from Betaworks. Starting with Summize, which became Twitter Search that later added TweetDeck. Betaworks are also behind theBitly URL shortner. Currently involved in SocialFlow, Chartbeat and more recently Digg revival.
The SMX keynote conversation with Danny Sullivan & John Borthwick gave insight into how Betaworks make decisions in the rapidly evolving world of social media.
If you recognise the increasing significance of mobile apps, but don’t understand how they work or how to optimise to be found on them, this session was for you.
Andy Atkins-Krüger, Tomer Kagan, Adam Dorfman and Mary Beth Brendza take us through our mobile paces to share information such as how to get your app found, what’s important, how mobile app optimisation differs from standard search optimisation along with a number of top tips for Mobile App visibility.

In about a month SMX London 2012 will open its doors in the Chelsea Stadium in London. At the event search marketers in Europe will gather to obtain knowledge and network. SMX London has now announced the full agenda of the show and the line up of speakers.
We already knew that Amit Singhal would be keynoting SMX London and that Danny Sullivan would return to the London event after being a few years away. Now we can also confirm that more Googlers and more “UK SEO Celebrities” will be presenting at the conference.

I had the chance to sit down and talk to Danny Sullivan. It was a really nice talk in which Danny really took his time to discuss many different topics. We talked about how he does his job, how he doesn’t want to be impartial and believes nobody is, we talked about Google off course, but also about Bing, Baidu and Yahoo. And we discussed topics like personalization and privacy, Facebook and off course SMX London.

Next week we first will be looking at SES London 2012 but already other events are preparing for their turn this year. So is SMX London 2012 which will take place 15/16 May 2012 at Chelsea Football Club in London.
The Chelsea Football club is known for having celebrities walking around the grounds and that will be no different in May. Only this time it will not be Football Celebrities but Search Celebrities. SMX has announced that for the first time since he moved back to the US Danny Sullivan will be actively involved in SMX London and the keynote speaker will be a Google celebrity: Google Fellow and the Head of Google’s Core Ranking Team Amit Singhal.
