Five tips (+1) for search conference organizers to please your visitors

SES New York 2012-16

This post was originally posted March 8 2010 and has been updated. One of the best ways to get quick access to what is hot or not in search and to learn a lot in a short amount of time is visiting one or more of the bigger or smaller conferences in the world about search marketing and related topics.

The conferences serve another purpose also: talk to those who can help you take the next step in your search experience and the way you work in search. With that I mean the people who are doing groundbreaking work in the industry. They not only find out what works, they are also willing to share that information. (more…)

Tools at SES New York: Keyword Management System

At this years SES New York we are bringing you, next to the regular blogposts, something else. We went around the Expo Hall and talked to different tools asking them to ‘pitch’ for us. Tell us why their tools are the best.

Today we talk to Bill Hunt, famous for his books, talks and business, but he now also has a tool: the Keyword Management System. Find below his explanation of the product. Again, we love to hear your experiences with the tool in the comments or let us know what you think of it.

ses-london-avinash-kaushik

It’s almost two years to the day that State of Search was launched and I heard Avinash speak at SES. He was truly inspirational and some of the ideas he presented that day I still use on a weekly basis today. Needless to say I am a huge fan and was really looking forward to the keynote.

He started with a favourite quote from a Kenyan Farmer, “information is powerful but it is how we use it that will define us.” We spend a lot of time making love to data but very little happens as a result. The key is trying to find out how to move beyond that information to drive change in your company.

Going up to the conference we will also be shedding our light on the event. We have asked several speakers at the event to answer some questions. Questions about SES off course, but also about the market in general: where do they feel the market is heading.
