SEO Tools for Pulling Rank – SES New york 2012 #SESny

5

No sooner is one SES over than another begins. This time, it’s SES New York 2012! Many of the New York sessions follow a similar programme to that of SES London in February (see our SES London 2012 coverage) but with a new set of speakers there is always something new to learn.

My standout session from Day 1 was without a doubt ‘The Tools of the Trade for SEO’. Even though a similar session was covered in London, a new set of speakers means a new set of tools and maybe something new for you to look at.

SES NY 2011: Is Retargeting / Remarketing right for you?

I have to admit I was a little dubious about this session after the display session yesterday, which left me a little confused, however I think this was probably the best session I attended of the whole conference and has left me itching to get back and start trying this out. I also managed to grab Dean Vegliante of netmining for a quick one to one after the session, so make sure you read right down to the bottom to see his insights too!

At SES New York I got to talk to a couple of speakers who all had interesting sessions at the conference. Every single one of them had a different angle on search and social media.

I talked to Tracy Falke, John Marshall and Kristjan Mar Hauksson about their talks, their jobs and what keeps them busy. Find the videos below.

State of Search radioshow – episode 3 – SES New York, local and more

A very special show this time coming straight from the webmasterradio booth at Search Engine Strategies New York 2010. While seated at the booth Bas was joined by Roy over Skype from Holland.

On the web you are what you publish: opening keynote SES New York

The opening keynote of SES New York this year was done by David Meerman Scott. He opened with an example of Cindy Gordon who started a theme park. She told just seven people she was opening. The seven people were influential bloggers. Off course they started to write about it. Within seven hours 350 million people had heard of the Harry Potter theme park.

These days its about getting the attention. When David travels he asks people questions. He asks the audience the questions on what they have done in the last six months:

  • Have you answered a direct mail advertisement ? (0,5% says yes)
  • Have you gone to main stream media (22%)
  • Have you gone to the yellow pages (4%)
  • Have you’ve used Google? (100%)

He then shows a video of his earlier speaking engagements where he asked the same question. (more…)
