SES tributes Jaamit Durrani

Several months ago we were devistated when we heard that a good friend an well respected SEO in the UK had passed away after a tragic accident. Since the moment that the news about Jaamit Durrani’s death broke something happened which I have never seen before. The community started to move and delivered a tribute on Social Media which know no equal.

At the upcoming SES London this week the community will again be tributing this very special person who even after his death knows to touch people and get them moving. (more…)

In this interview we talk to somebody who is always a guarantee for a happy face on the SES shows: Mel Carson. Next up is a speaker who comes flying in from the other side of the big ocean to visit his native country: Simon Heseltine. Simon is Principal Marketing Manager at AOL Inc. in northern Virginia working primarily with their sports and news sites. He has worked both on the in-house and agency sides of the fence, and was a developer in a ‘past life’. He is a regular speaker at SES events.

How to build a solid brand using the mix of social media and marketing

Its the mistake a lot of brands make when starting to use social media-tools: they believe that immediately success will come and that just being on social media will bring their tons of money and even more goodwill. They couldn’t have been more wrong. Social media is not just about using social media tools. Its about how you integrate all the elements of the social media marketing mix. By mixing the elements you can build a solid brand using social media. Its about looking beyond boundries.

This was the topic I was discussing at my panel session at Search Engine Strategies in London. This write up takes a piece from that presentation. I will try to explain the four elements of the marketing mix which you can use to build your brand. At the end of the post I will publish my presentation.

Next week SES London starts. The biggest Search Conference in Europe has made some changes in the format to keep the event leading in its field and attractive for visitors world wide.
