We are getting closer to actually getting Google Glasses in the street, but that also frightens people, what will this mean for privacy? Let’s take a step back and look at the ‘fun stuff’ first, that what Sergey Brin presented at Google I/O in June last year.

Sergey Brin is one of the founders of Google, so we all know. One of the reasons why he is successful is because he knows how to combine different talents: technical, business and social. In the talk below he speaks at the School of Information at UC Berkeley.

Topics include search advertising and auctions, search and privacy, search ranking, internationalization, anti-spam efforts, local search, peer-to-peer search, and search of blogs and online communities. There is one catch: this talk is from 2005. Still, be amazed on how relevant most of it still is!

A Google board meeting got videotaped! (In 1999…)

It’s rare that you actually get to see what is going on within the Google Plex. In some cases you get a peek of what happens after working hours (are there “after” hours at Google anyway?). It is even more rare that you can actually look into a Google Board Meeting.

Yet somebody decided to bring a camera to a regular board meeting which shows some announcements of new employees and the celebration of some birthdays, amongst which Larry Page’s. The video has been posted on YouTube. But before you get too excited: it is a video of 1999, when Google was still a relatively small company, way before Eric Schmidt had even heard of the company.
