What Makes an Award Winning Entry

Last Thursday the UK Searchawards were given out in London. There were a lot of winners in as much different categories. You can see all the winners here. For every category there were even more nominees: the ones that didn’t win. After all, for each category, there can only be one winner.

So what makes a winner? It’s off course the actual job done which makes it special or very good. But there is much more to that. We will be asking some of the winners just that, but there is another important part to winning an award: you have to convince the judges.

The judges panel on the Searchawards had some highly respected names in the (UK) Search Industry in them. We asked six of them who are close to State of Search to give us their opinions on what makes an award winning entry. So if you want to win next year, keep on reading… (more…)

Shortlist Nominees UK SearchAwards 2012 Announced

The UK Searchawards, which will be presented November 1st in London has announced the shortlist of nominees who are eligible for winning an award at the ceremonies. In 15 different categories nominees are named, from best used in SEO, to PPC And best integrated campaign. The jury, with several State of Search bloggers like Nichola Stott, Kelvin Newman and Bas van den Beld in it, made their decisions last Friday.

On top of the different categories there will also be awards for a ‘a Grand Prix’, best in all the categories and there will be announced who is this years’ UK Search Personality of the year, which last year was our very own Lisa Myers. Find the entire shortlist below. (more…)

State of Search Wins Best European Search Blog!

Last night at the European Searchawards there were 15 prizes to be given away. One of them being the prize for best European Search Blog. The winner there: STATE OF SEARCH!!!

We are off course very proud of this award as it is a recognition from the industry for all the things we are doing. Shortlist European SearchAwards Announced: State of Search Up For Best Blog

This morning the nominees for the European Searchawards have been announced. The nominees are divided in 13 different categories, two more categories have no nominees, but these winners will be announced on the awards night which will be held in Amsterdam on July 5th.

State of Search has been nominated in the category “best blog”, which off course we are very proud of. Other known nominees are Linkdex and Majestic SEO for best tool, Branded3, Verve Search, Carat, Latitude, Performics, Koozai and LBi/bigmouthmedia in different categories. European Search Awards 2012 Announced

Last Friday at the UK Search Conference the winners of the UK Search Awards presented their winning cases. It was a very insightful day with lots of cases. On the same day, the organizers, Don’t Panic in association with Manual Link Building and SEMPO announced the very first European Search Awards.

On Thursday July 5th in Amsterdam the European Search crowd will gather to celebrate the winners of the best cases in no less than 17 categories for campaigns, use of search, software and the industry’s talent. (more…)

All the Winners of the UK Searchawards: Lisa Myers Personality of The Year! #searchawards

Tonight in London the UK Searchawards have been given out. Our very own Lisa Myers was voted as Search Personality of the Year. Other winners were Fast Web Media, who won no less than four awards, including the Best Agency Award.

The ceremonies in the Emirates Stadium saw a lot of winners, which you can find below. The jury explained that it was very hard deciding on the winners because there were many cases, but also some great cases missing. The winners however can be very proud of their awards! Shall We Do Something Together?

Last week I had a call from the MD of Manual Link Building (MLB), Gareth Hoyle. As one of the lead sponsors of tomorrow nights’ UK Search Awards, MLB receive in return signage and exposure, as is normal in a sponsorship agreement. Hoyle told me that they had decided to donate a page of exposure in the awards programme to a charity and when searching for a suitable cause had discovered that the WWF are currently running an awareness campaign.
