State of Search radioshow – episode 45: Bing’s Stefan Weitz about copying, Bing in Europe and more

Bing is the second largest search engine in the world. And Google seems to be feeling the heat of the Microsoft search engine, given their fierce reactions to the alleged copying of search results. Last week we had Danny Sullivan discussing this topic on our radioshow. This week it was Bing’s turn to talk on our radioshow.

We were very happy to discuss all sorts of different matters about Bing. We started of with discussing why it is taking Bing so long to get to Europe and moved on to how Bing uses user intent, where even super computer Watson came by. Stefan also talked about Google’s accusations last week of copying results.

Discussion: the biggest myths in conversion optimization

Tomorrow on the State of Search radioshow Bas and Roy will have Stephen Pavlovich as their guest on the show. Stephen Pavlovich is one of Europe’s most respected conversion experts around. He started his company Conversion Factory in 2007 and has since been very successful. To see what he is all up to check his blog on his own site and he recently wrote a great post on conversion optimization over at SEOMoz: The Definitive How-To Guide For Conversion Rate Optimization. We also interviewed him this summer!

In the show tomorrow, which will be aired live on webmasterradio.fm (8pm European time, which is 7 in the UK, and in the US it’s at 2pm on the East Coast and 11am on the West Coast, join us in the chat room!), we will adress the topic of conversion optimization.

There is off course the opportunity to ask questions or put in statements in the chat room, but we want to start the discussion early here today already by opening up the floor for your opinions and questions. We will do that by putting in a statement:

What are the biggest myths in conversion optimization?

Starting next week: the State of Search radioshow on webmasterradio

If you have been following what we have been doing over the past year you will know we have a Searchcowboys radioshow on Webmasterradio. Every Tuesdaynight at 8PM here in Holland (which is 7 in the UK, and in the US it’s at 2pm on the East Coast and 11am on the West Coast) Roy Huiskes and myself discuss the state of the search market. Yesterday we had our last Searchcowboys radioshow. And no, we are not going to stop doing the show, we are going to rebrand! Starting next week we will be hosting the State of Search radioshow!

So why the change? It is pretty simple actually. With the launch of this new site the name of the show was too much connected to the “old site” which is confusing. To keep it all clear we are ‘rebranding’ the show to the State of Search radioshow. This does mean some changes. We will not only have to change the name, but also the logo and, not un-important, the feed. So if you have subscribed to i-tunes, be sure to change your feed starting next week. We will let you know the new feed a.s.a.p.!

Last night it was the last ‘regular’ Searchcowboys show. Roy and I were joined by no other than one of our writers, Nichola Stott. You can listen to the show below where you can also find the shownotes. Hope to ‘see’ you next week in the chatroom for the State of Search show! (more…)
