Google Makes Structured Data easy with Data Highlighter

Rich snippets are becoming extremely important in the SERPS these days, some might even argue they are more important than rankings. Because they make you stand out. Whether it’s video, reviews or just the text you want highlighted, everything you can do, you should do.

When it comes to event calendars Google has just made the life of a webmaster a whole lot easier by introducing Data Highlighter for event data which will allow even the most a technical webmasters to mark up structured data about events (think concerts, conferences or festivals). Eric Schmidt to Publish Book on how Internet is Changing Society

Eric Schmidt, the former CEO of Google, now executive chairman, is going to publish a book. Knopf Publishers today announced the book, which will be written by Schmidt and co-author Jared Cohen, director of Google Ideas. The publishing date will be April 23rd.

Schmidt’s and Cohen’s book will be about the future of technology and will be called “The New Digital Age: Reshaping the Future of People, Nations and Business”.

A bit of quick news about conferences which came by in the past month:

SMX West has Sneak Peek Agenda

For me, November usually is one of the busiest months of the year – seems to be true for a lot of people as well – especially looking at the content that has been produced, events gone down and status updates being made. CEMPER.COM Announce LinkDetox & New Direction for Consultancy

Yesterday CEMPER.COM announced that after 3 years of innovation of their tools, they will be stopping link building services as a separate service to new clients and changing focus towards the creation of more Link Research Tools.

We spoke to Christoph C. Cemper about the change of Direction and about the New Link Detox Tools.

Facebook and Yahoo: No, But What If…?

This weekend suddenly the rumour popped up that Facebook and Yahoo were supposedly talking about creating a search engine, something which also was denied in a later stage. That off course led to a lot of speculation: wass this really true? Would it make sense? What about Bing? And would a combination between Yahoo and Facebook have any chance of succeeding, let alone beating a Google or Bing?

We decided to drop this question on the desks of some industry experts to see how they would feel about this if it were true (which it most probably isn’t). Because we can dream right, dream of a Google competitor. Or not? (more…)

The State of Content Marketing by the ‘new’ Blueglass UK

Last week in London an announcement was made which surprised a few in the search industry but saw many happy smiles. Blueglass, one of US’ hottest agencies announced it was coming to London and to make that work it acquired content marketing agency Quaturo from Kevin Gibbons.

Blueglass intents to give content marketing a boost in the UK, making it more that the ““add-on” to SEO” which many companies feel it is. We’ve interviewed Kevin Gibbons about this move which we will publish later, but first we’d like to share this info graphic from the (new) Blueglass team about, what else, content marketing. (more…)
