iOS Still Dominates Mobile And Tablet Traffic In UK

internet uk tablet

According to Adobe, 84% of UK traffic via a tablet device went to iOS in February 2013, with 53.5% of UK traffic via mobile phones doing the same.

Tablet and Smartphone internet traffic may favour Android in other countries, but in the UK, Apple still lead the way. According to Adobe, 84% of UK traffic via a tablet device went to iOS in February 2013, with 53.5% of UK traffic via mobile phones doing the same. Of the six countries analysed, Adobe confirmed – unsurprisingly – that iOS and Android completely dominated the market share.

More than 90% of smartphone owners used these operating systems, with iOS the leader in the UK, the US and in France. Blackberry users on the RIM OS accounted for 1.4% of tablet internet traffic in the UK and 4.1 of smartphone traffic – the highest figures recorded out of the countries selected. The Mobile Web vs. Mobile App Choice: Which is better for you?

Mobile Web or Mobile App?

Last week I had the great opportunity to speak at SMX Munich with a presentation called “The Mobile Search Universe“, giving an overview of the different alternatives to create a Mobile presence and how to optimize it to improve its visibility.

One of the most important aspects that I covered during the presentation -and that I want to share in this post specifically, due to its importance- is the Mobile Web vs. Mobile App decision that many businesses are making at the moment. (more…)

Let’s Go Mobile, but Pay Attention

mobile-world-featured

It was nearly two weeks ago that Marin Software released a whitepaper which got some discussions and pens going. The whitepaper “Mobile Search Advertising Around The Globe” showed us some impressive numbers which were repeated over and over on several blogs and at SES London last week as well.

And with reason.

Since 2006 we have been talking about ‘the year of the mobile’ and that was even before there was such a thing as the iPhone, let alone tablets. Marin’s report shows that talking about mobile is one thing, doing mobile is another. Where in 2006 we thought the phone would be the mobile device to focus on, now it is the tablets that have our full attention. And it is clear: there is money to be made on mobile (as if you didn’t know right). (more…)

Mobile Represents 20% of Facebook Advertising

facebook-mobile

It has taken Facebook a while and it was one of the concerns when the company went to the stock market but it seems they are finally taking steps when it comes to mobile. Not mobile as in a fantastic application (even though that has improved they still have a long way to go there) but there where it matters most for those interested in the money behind Facebook: advertising. The steps are small, but they are there. Still the desktop is still the biggest thing for Facebook.

Global social marketing platform Kenshoo this week reports that after a research they performed looking at more than two million Facebook ad clicks and conversions they conclude that mobile now represents 20.3 percent of overall Facebook ad spend. (more…)

Useful, Inspiring and Influential Posts of 2012

sharing-end-of-2012

So hope you have all enjoyed Christmas, I have two children (one more on the way) and Christmas is very much a time of reflection. Partly because its the one time in the year when I actually shut down (at least for a few days). As I sit down to write this post some people are still enjoying the festivity and some are back in work getting ready for 2013.

So I’ll admit I love researched, data driven posts (Little Geeky, but that’s what floats my boat) but I thought I’d share with you some of the articles, videos and blogs which I have found useful, inspiring or influential over the past twelve months. (more…)
