Yesterday Marissa Mayer made one of the most surprising moves in this young industry ever. Her move from Google to become CEO of Yahoo is unprecedented and it will be interesting to see what she will make of it over at the former search giant.

The sudden move also triggered a lot of questions: why did she move? Why did Google let her go so easily? What else is going on? And even the question of who is going to replace her when she is getting her first baby in October showed up.

I get the question more and more: what do you get out of conferences? For me the answer is always a bit different because of the fact State of Search coverages conferences and my speaking is far from aimed at getting clients, I don’t want clients, I want to speak, write and train. But for many others conferences are there for learning, sharing and networking. If you get one good lead or one good idea out of a conference you have had a good conferences.

A4U Expo has understood this pretty well and decided to act on it by helping attendees to make networking just a bit more easy. Like they did for the first time in London last year they are offering delegates the chance to take part in a selection of discussions, and debates at A4Uexpo Europe. (more…)

Google +1, will it succeed? The experts don’t agree

With the launch of “+1″ Google seems to have made another step in the revealing of their social layers. This one without a doubt is one of the bigger changes so far. We wrote about it this morning, but we also asked several experts in the industry to shine their light on the matter.
