Avinash Kaushik Talks Mobile and Facebook and says: Do!

This week it is SES Chicago, one of the few SES Conferences we are not covering these days. It doesn’t mean there isn’t great content coming from SES though! Here you can find the interview Jonathan Allen of Searchenginewatch held with Avinash Kaushik, keynote speaker at SES Chicago.

Kaushik talks about mobile, Facebook and tells us how he is able to deliver a different keynote every time: by doing. So he advices us not just to read, but also do.

What’s Next for Google Analytics?

We do a lot of conference blogging as you might know. We usually do write ups of sessions. But Brian Clifton found a different way of covering a conference, via an infographic, which you can find below.

What’s even more interesting than the format is the content, because Brian looks at the future of Google Analytics through the eyes of the GA Summit in Mountain View this month. And Brian, who worked with Google on Google Analytics knows what’s important and what’s not. Universal Analytics, Online & Offline tracking, Attribution modelling, data import and the user interface are topics that come by. (more…)

The #SearchLove Chronicles – Day 2 – Morning Sessions

search-love-logo

The first day at Searchlove was characterized by a strong strategical allure. Sure, there were few sessions which were more tactical, but the general tone was about marketing. I think it is ‘normal’ these days. SEO must (re)learn the Marketing part of Search Marketing, as it that part the one which will make SEO survive in this evolving time.

Today will probably be more tactical stuff, thanks to Richard Baxter, Dave Peiris, David Mihm and other speakers. The day is going to start. I already see Duncan Morris on stage. So let’s the chronicles begin: (more…)

#SearchLove London More Afternoon Sessions

search-love-logo

More afternoon sessions from SearchLove London 2012 including highly technical user tactics from Mat Clayton at MixCloud, and a head-to-head with Will Critchlow and Rand Fishkin.

The whole day was topped off by the very classy networking party at Foundation bar in Covent Garden where myself and Lisa Myers had a portrait painted by an amazing caricaturist.

Dublin Web Summit 2012 – Day 2: Corporate Culture, 4chan and Yandex #websummit

Dublin Web Summit developer stage

This is a guest post by Toby Osbourn, senior web developer at Belfast-based creative agency Pierce Communications.

Last week I had the honour of attending the second day of the Dublin Web Summit held at the RDS in Dublin, Ireland. Considering that the Web Summit is really in its infancy being that this is only the third year the event has been running it is already a huge deal – touting 200+ speakers and 3000+ attendees over the two days.

The second day appealed to be because of the developer track they had running, being a code monkey I’m naturally drawn to talks by other coders, and who wouldn’t want the opportunity to hear greats such as Monty Widenius (of MySQL fame), Ilya Segalovich (co-founder of Yandex) and whilst not a developer (but I can’t hold that against him) your very own Bas Van Den Beld. Dublin Web Summit 2012 – Day 1: Comedy and Technology, Mobile and Cloud #websummit

Dublin Web Summit

The 2012 edition of the Dublin Web Summit is Europe’s largest tech event, a two-day extravaganza boasting over 4000 attendees and 200 speakers spread across four different stages.

Some of the Web Summit’s line-up included web superstars such as Robert Scoble, Paul Sciarra (Pinterest), and David Rowan (Wired UK), as well as digital marketing elder statesmen like Jon Myers, Joanna Lord, Darmesh Shah, and our very own Bas van den Beld. (more…)

Dublin SEO Summit

Dublin SEO Summit

Last week I attended the inaugural Dublin SEO Summit, a free half-day conference held in the Morrison Hotel in the centre of Dublin (not to be confused with the upcoming Dublin Web Summit).

The headline speaker of the SEO event was SEOmoz’s Rand Fishkin, who was on a whirlwind tour of the whole of Ireland and taking time out of his schedule to perform several speaking gigs (only a few days earlier we hosted a Belfast Digital Marketing meetup for him). (more…)

A4U Expo London Launches Agenda

New logo a4uexpo

One of the bigger events in Europe in October is A4U Expo London 2012. After a successful European version in Barcelona earlier this year in October it is time again for A4U’s ‘home territory’: London.

Today A4U Expo launches their official agenda for the two days, which shows many different topics and some familiar faces there.

The conference has different topics covered. Topics including Data, Mobile, Engagement, Social Media, Affiliate Marketing, Analytics, User Experience, Search Marketing and Conversion will reinforce how the wider digital community are harnessing and integrating performance-based marketing on a far larger scale than has been seen previously. The two-day conference agenda will feature in excess of forty sessions across three tracks, designed to enable all delegates to benefit from beginner to advanced-level learning’s in our interactive theatre, plus key industry debate through our ‘panels-only’ session room – both of which are new for 2012. Why You Should Attend SEO Conferences

Since I’ve only recently come back from SES San Francisco I’ve decided to share my thoughts on the advantages of attending SEO conferences and expos to provide you with insights on what’s hot and what is not!
