Conference News
A bit of quick news about conferences which came by in the past month:
SMX West has Sneak Peek Agenda
SMX West, which will take place in March 11 – 13, 2013, has announced their ‘sneak peek agenda’ where you can see which topics are being discussed. Find it here.
SES London 2013, (18-21 February) is now taking speaker submissions. If you want to speak go here and sign up!
One of the bigger events in Europe in October is A4U Expo London 2012. After a successful European version in Barcelona earlier this year in October it is time again for A4U’s ‘home territory’: London.
Today A4U Expo launches their official agenda for the two days, which shows many different topics and some familiar faces there.
The conference has different topics covered. Topics including Data, Mobile, Engagement, Social Media, Affiliate Marketing, Analytics, User Experience, Search Marketing and Conversion will reinforce how the wider digital community are harnessing and integrating performance-based marketing on a far larger scale than has been seen previously. The two-day conference agenda will feature in excess of forty sessions across three tracks, designed to enable all delegates to benefit from beginner to advanced-level learning’s in our interactive theatre, plus key industry debate through our ‘panels-only’ session room – both of which are new for 2012. We’re in the middle of summer (or at least, that’s what the Calendar says) but already it is business as usual for many, including some conference organizers. As you know State of Search is the place to be when it comes to events in the search industry so we want to keep you updated on what is going on around those events. (more…)
At State of Search we take pride in being the place to be when it comes to events in the search industry. We believe that there is no other website which brings you this much valuable information around events as we do.
With the events comes the promotion of these events and the possibility to send readers there for free. Always nice for our readers! Now there are many ways of sending people to a conference for free. We’ve had the “Retweet contests” and at the last A4U we had a really successful one in which we challenged SEOs to rank on a specific keyword. This time with A4U we thought we’d try something different: a blogging contest.
But as it turns out we have to come clear: this contest failed. Big time. Even though we have a winner . (more…)
In two weeks time A4U Expo Barcelona starts. The European version of the conference has been in Amsterdam and Munich before and now for the first time has a Southern European city hosting the conference. State of Search will off course be covering the event. Going up to the conference we will give you some insights into what will be going on there, while we again have bloggers present to make sure you hear what actually goes on in the sessions.
Today we can announce that Scott Seaborn, founder of the Ogilvy Group’s mobile division as well as the Digital Innovation Lab will be talking brand-building in the mobile space during his session titled, The Evolution of Mobile from a Creative Perspective.
Seaborn will be talking about brands such as Fanta, IBM, Coke Zero and Heineken, where the focus will lie on mobile off course.
Founder and MD of A4u, Matthew Wood, comments on Scott Seaborn’s addition to the a4uexpo Europe agenda:
“It’s inevitable that we’ll see entrepreneurs embrace performance marketing based ideologies and drive revenue and interaction purely on mobile. Scott’s enlightening keynote will put to the audience a number of traditional branding strategies and expose how these can relate with mobile to fully engage and influence the consumer.”
An example of successful mobile branding can for example be what Heineken did with their “Heineken Starplayer”
In about a month SMX London 2012 will open its doors in the Chelsea Stadium in London. At the event search marketers in Europe will gather to obtain knowledge and network. SMX London has now announced the full agenda of the show and the line up of speakers.
We already knew that Amit Singhal would be keynoting SMX London and that Danny Sullivan would return to the London event after being a few years away. Now we can also confirm that more Googlers and more “UK SEO Celebrities” will be presenting at the conference.

Next week we first will be looking at SES London 2012 but already other events are preparing for their turn this year. So is SMX London 2012 which will take place 15/16 May 2012 at Chelsea Football Club in London.
The Chelsea Football club is known for having celebrities walking around the grounds and that will be no different in May. Only this time it will not be Football Celebrities but Search Celebrities. SMX has announced that for the first time since he moved back to the US Danny Sullivan will be actively involved in SMX London and the keynote speaker will be a Google celebrity: Google Fellow and the Head of Google’s Core Ranking Team Amit Singhal. A4 U Expo Europe has been located in Munich, for the past few years. The successful Affiliate show, which also has a close connection to the SEO-industry, was very successful in Germany but decided it needed to ‘broaden its horizon’ and is going south: to Barcelona.
Today A4U opens up the registration for this show, as well as the submission for speaker proposals. The A4U Expo show starts June 19th. (more…)
March 3rd will be the day a big part of the UK SEO crowd will meet up in Leeds again for the first of two Thinkvisibility events for 2012. The conference, organized by our good friend Dom Hodgson and his team, is already up to its 7th edition.
On the website, where starting this weekend the tickets can be bought, the show is announced to be an “event with some surprises”. It sure is and we can let you in on one of those surprises now: a very special session which has the working title of “outsourcing for cheap bastards”. (more…)
Since 2009 A4U Expo doesn’t just have a show in London. After their first ‘European’ event in Amsterdam they moved to Munich, Germany. There two great conferences took place.
Now A4U Expo believes it is time to move again. Next years ‘Europe show’ is moving south: to Spain, Barcelona to be exact. (more…)
At A4U Expo next week it will not just be the video interviews we will be doing by which you can recognize State of Search. It will also not just be the coverage we will be providing. It will also be the speakers that will be there.
On the speakers list of A4U Expo you will recognize a few familiar names. Not just from the industry, but also from this blog. For example our blogger Kelvin Newman will be speaking on the ‘How to Build Links which look Natural’-panel. The A4U team asked him some questions for their blog. Off course we were happy reading and writing along. (more…)
