UK and France Completed in Yahoo-Microsoft Search Alliance Implementation

Yahoo and Microsoft have been working hard in the past year to integrate their search marketplaces. Their goal is to give advertisers a one-stop-shop for both search engines. Both search engines are taking the transition one step at a time.

After first the US, now all digital advertisers and publishers in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France have been transitioned to Microsoft adCenter. Next up: Germany, Switzerland and Austria. (more…)

Bas and Roy were joined by Microsoft’s EMEA Marketing lead Cedric Chambaz. Cedric discussed the Bing – Yahoo transition in which the ‘backend’ of Bing and Yahoo is merged, making that you will find the same results on both websites. Cedric explained what they had done and also explained the difference between the transition and the updates to Bing. A must listen to really learn the insights on the transition.

After Cedric left Bas and Roy discussed some of the current developments with Google buying Motorola, patents and Google and Amazon as the main topics.

Bing’s European boss Cedric Chambaz: “Search is a very personal experience”

It is about time we start to take Bing seriously. They’ve reached a market share of 30% in the US, are the only one growing in the UK and just got out of beta in France. Still many in Europe don’t consider them to be a grown up player in the market. Bing’s intent is to change that.

At the head of EMEA Marketing Lead – SMB Advertising for Microsoft Advertising Cedric Chambaz is working on just that. He spoke at the International Search Summit in Munich and will be speaking at SMX London (on the same panel as me by the way, so I am honored!) in May, which is combined with the London version of ISS.
