Friday Talk: Bas van den Beld at the Dublin Web Summit

For this last Friday Talk of the year I thought I would do something a bit special. I’m usually not one to brag about myself so I didn’t put this one up before but since it’s the last Friday Talk of the year I thought ‘what the hell’ :) .

Below you can find the talk I did at the Dublin Web Summit earlier this year. Enjoy!

International SEO School Opens in Barcelona

Education is very important and with a quickly evolving industry like the search industry it is difficult to keep up. Especially if you are not just focussing on one specific country or region. So some extra education when it comes to International SEO and Social Media is not a luxury to leave aside.

This week at the International Search Summit London Webcertain, the leading international SEO company who also organize the ISS, launched the “International SEO School” in Barcelona to give marketers the opportunity for that extra piece of international knowledge. Courses so far are International SEO, PPC and the Search / Social Media connection. Trainers include Andy Atkins-Krüger, Anders Hjorth and Bas van den Beld. (more…)

Meet our 2011 Bloggers: The Man himself (Bas van den Beld)

stateofsearchbloggers

In the past week Bas have been posting profiles and summaries of each blogger from the State of Search blogging crew. Typically of Bas, he has left himself out. When asked if he could email me his own answers to the questions he asked all the bloggers, he was hesitant. You see Bas is one modest Dutchman. For those of you that don’t know the history of State of Search ; the blog is only turning 2 years old this February. In fact this time 2 years ago, myself and Bas was Skyping over the Christmas period talking about whether he should “go at it alone”, in which my reply was “heck yeah”. And in only 2 years this blog has grown to become one of the most respected Search and Social blogs in Europe and the US. It has some serious klout (pardon the pun). I’m proud to be a founding member of this blog but can take little of the credit of its success; Bas van den Beld is the man, and he rocks! (more…)

State of Search radioshow – episode 74: Searchawards, Movember and Google+ for Businesses with @lisadmyers

Bas and Roy were joined today by Lisa Myers, who last week was named “UK Search Personality of the Year”. They discussed the awards and whether or not this would work for a bigger audience like Europe or the US. They also talked about Movember, a charity in which Roy participates and for which Koozai organized a special contest. Off course the new Google+ for Businesses were discussed as well.

You can listen to the session below with the shownotes. (more…)

State of Search radioshow – episode 45: Bing’s Stefan Weitz about copying, Bing in Europe and more

Bing is the second largest search engine in the world. And Google seems to be feeling the heat of the Microsoft search engine, given their fierce reactions to the alleged copying of search results. Last week we had Danny Sullivan discussing this topic on our radioshow. This week it was Bing’s turn to talk on our radioshow.

We were very happy to discuss all sorts of different matters about Bing. We started of with discussing why it is taking Bing so long to get to Europe and moved on to how Bing uses user intent, where even super computer Watson came by. Stefan also talked about Google’s accusations last week of copying results.

The shownotes are below. (more…)
