The end of the year is approaching rapidly so it is time to start counting down to the New Years. And I always like to do that in a special way. Because this blog is something special. Special because the authors of this blog are not only very smart people who write great content, but also very nice people who all have one thing in common: they have a specific drive and they are genuine.
I am highlighting all the bloggers on State of Search, simply because they deserve it. They are a very special bunch of people who deserve some attention. Now it is time for Jackie Hole.
What post are you are most proud of this year?
The SMX ‘series’ – This was my first opportunity to write for an industry blog other than my own. so to cover an entire event and get such good feedback was amazing.
What was your (personal or business, or both) highlight of 2011?
Definately the trip to SMX New York – without State of Search I would never have been sat 2 yds from Danny Sullivan or had lunch with Matt Van Wagner . The recent Conversion Conference was also awesome as I got to hang out with the lovely Karl Blanks, Peter Young, Jake Langwith, and Judith Lewis and then Bas told me that Bryan Eisenberg liked my post – top that!
Personal highlight – talking at ThinkVis – I have terrible stage fright so speaking at an event was a ‘must do’ bucket list type affair. Once you realise it’s not as scary as you think, it becomes a lot more fun! Hopefully I will get the opportunity to talk at more events in the future.
What are you ‘wishing’ for 2012?
For 2012 I am looking to develop more specialist skills, brainstorm with the best and work on more cutting edge projects, so I will be hoping to make the move back to an agency team in order to be part of something bigger as the industry grows and changes. It is the year of the Dragon so here’s to good fortune, success and happiness for all
A personal thought about Jackie
Jackie is relatively new to our team but she has managed to “grab her seat” really quickly. She started off guest blogging SMX New York for us, which she did so very well there was no doubt in my mind she should be a ‘regular’ on our team. And she hasn’t disappointed me for a bit!
Jackie is a special person, she wears wigs on Facebook, but that is just fun, she has a very smart mind and knows exactly what she wants so it seems. One of the reasons she fits in to the team so well is that she has a heart of gold. And she is probably the most loyal ‘socializer’ of our content. Somehow its like she fits the blue print of the perfect State of Search blogger .
I am very happy to have you on board Jackie! And I hope to be seeing a lot of cool stuff coming out of your fingers in the next year. And off course we need to hang out at conferences! Happy 2012!
