		<description>We do have that in europe it&#039;s just that some european countries ignore or actively break eu law (which is what the italian judgement does)  or make judgements in favor of local companies or favorite sons. 

In fact the judgment is also flawed as it breaks some of the major tenets of natural justice.</description>

The Italy ruling itself is ridiculous (especially since the country as a whole shows a remarkable distaste for privacy and loves celebrity scandals that emerge entirely from erosion of personal privacy), but as the NY Times article also states the legal backlash against the ever-growing might of Google arises from an inherent problem with the American approach to privacy.

Europe has a much longer and more difficult history than America, and our culture reflects that. If companies like Google are to gain full acceptance here, they need to be aware of those cultural differences. Where public opposition fails, legal action might force them to open their eyes.</description>
