Eric Schmidt, the former CEO of Google, now executive chairman, is going to publish a book. Knopf Publishers today announced the book, which will be written by Schmidt and co-author Jared Cohen, director of Google Ideas. The publishing date will be April 23rd.
Schmidt’s and Cohen’s book will be about the future of technology and will be called “The New Digital Age: Reshaping the Future of People, Nations and Business”.
According to Knopf the book will look at how the Internet is changing society. It makes sense for Schmidt to write about that specific topic because he has been quoted many times on matters in that area with this quote as a good example:
“If you have something that you don’t want anyone to know maybe you shouldn’t be doing it in the first place”
Schmidt is known for his quotes and where many people believe they were just ‘slip of the tongue’ remarks, we believe that Schmidt was way ahead of his time with some of them. Like for example:
“We know where you are. We know where you’ve been. We can more or less know what you’re thinking about.”
and
“I actually think most people don’t want Google to answer their questions, they want Google to tell them what they should be doing next.

According to Knopf the book will touch on many different topics:
“In The New Digital Age, Schmidt and Cohen address the most important questions of our time vis-a-vis technology: Who will be more powerful in the future, the citizen or the state? Will technology make terrorism easier or more difficult to carry out? How much privacy and security will we have to give up to be part of the new digital age? How will war, diplomacy, and revolution change when everyone is connected? What will be the impact of having both a full virtual life online, and a physical one?”
As said the book will be written (actually it is already written, they are in the process of publishing) by Schmidt and Jared Cohen. Cohen is the founder of “Google Ideas” which as Google describes it is a “think/do tank” which looks at using technology to fix global problems. Cohen has quite the track record. He use to work under both Bush and Obama as State Department official.
