It’s the American dream, becoming a big famous and rich entrepeneur starting with absolutely nothing. Larry Page and Sergey Brin actually lived that dream. These three videos show the chronicle of their success. (more…)
Give Mel Carson a microphone and he’ll get people to talk. In this case Bing’s Stefan Weitz who revealed what Bing was doing. And Mel did ask the question: when is Europe on Bing’s schedule? Curious about his answer? Check it out here:
Search and Social. Are they a match made in heaven, are they enemies or are they something which you should do both, but separate from each other? At the Fusion Marketing Experience (#FusionMex) in Brussels this week (I recommend this conference by the way, very insightful one) I had the chance to put a Social Media expert and a Search Expert next to each other to have them discuss the two.
Olivier Blanchard (@thebrandbuilder), author of the book “Social Media ROI” and a well recognized Social Media expert on the subject of actually making it work business wise, and Joost de Valk (@yoast) a well know search and WordPress consultant, talked about their separate knowledge areas but also how they could merge. The video was taped outside so you might here some background noice.
At SXSW Danny Sullivan interviewed Bing and Google about the latest developments in search. Before that session he sat down with TechCrunch’ Alexia Tsotsis. She asked him all about content farms, spam and the reliance some companies have on Google.
Matt Cutts answers questions on the GoogleWebmasterHelp channel. In this question he answers a question about what to do with your strategy in 2011. He names the obvious ones: speed, control of the CMS, internal linking and internal education. But he ends with a big one: social media marketing. He doesn’t say Social Media is part of the algorithm though, just that it influences readers and possible bloggers.
With the discussion about JC Penney firing up around blogs and websites in the United States it is interesting to know what Google’s policies are when it comes to penalizing. Not just when a penalty is given, but also when it will be lifted. Google figured that it should be answering questions about this in their Google Webmaster Help videos. So Matt this week told us how penalties are lifted.
Last week Eric Schmidt made a presence at the DLD conference in Munich. The Germans were very excited to have the almost ex-CEO of Google on stage. It is there that he announced that Google is expanding in Europe. And not just in London, they are also growing in Germany.
In his talk he adresses the next decade. And you have to admit: he is a good speaker. He had a nice quote again, children are either asleep or online..
We’ve read very much about Google and Bing in the last week and we’ll probably continue to discuss the matter this week. But sometimes it is nice to see things in perspective. Thank you Colbert Report.
We love Eric Schmidt. We are going to miss him when he steps down as CEO. His famous quotes will be missed by us who report about them. But he is not gone yet! And we are grateful to the people of Whirled. They noticed that in all the talks Schmidt has held over the past ten years there is one word which keeps coming back: Literally. That lead to this great video.
With the new position which Larry Page will be taking in April it is nice to look back at a documentary which Bloomberg made last year in the “Game Changers” series. Have a nice weekend!
