Do We Need A Social Networking Bill of Rights?

Social-Networking-Bill-of-Rights-intro

When it comes to Social Media there is a lot of talk about privacy: what are the boundaries, how far can we go? Can employers base their judgements on what we publish online? Can companies just connect all sorts of different data?

The website backgroundcheck.org feels it might be time for some rules on this. Not just ‘any’ rules though, an actual ‘Bill of Rights’. They made this infographic to explain… What do you think, do we need a social networking Bill of Rights? (more…)

Social vs Search: And The Winner Is…

social-vs-search-infographic-intro

Which one is better: Social or Search? To be honest, it is not a fair question. Maybe we should even say they don’t compare or they need to go together.

Still MDG Advertising thinks it is interesting to compare them, to see how they ‘weigh in’. And they are right, it is interesting. Which one is better for lead generation, what is better for brand awareness, local visibility or interactivity? All elements looked at in the infographic below.

And the winner is… (more…)

The Difference In Users Between Google+ and Facebook

facebook-gplus-diff-intro

Google’s TV Ad in the UK was launched this weekend. It was clearly aimed at getting more users for Google+. But as someone stated in the comments of our Facebook page, who was it targeted at? Young or old users? And wouldn’t people who see it think “hey that’s Facebook?”. But Facebook and Google+ have different type of users.

For those who don’t know the difference between the users, students from the Fox School of Business made this infographic to explain the difference. (more…)

Google Algorithm Changes in One View

Google-Algorithm-Changes-intro

Google makes constant changes, over 500 a year. Not all of them are algorithmic (thank heaven), but some of the major ones are. It can be difficult keeping track of all of them. Here however is another overview of all the big algorithmic changes Google has made in the past 14 years.

We have seen similar overviews, but the overview that Outrider has made of the Google Algorithm Changes since the start of Google in 1998 until now is the best so far. (more…)

14 Ways To Spot a “Bad” SEO Agency

how-to-spot-a-bad-seo-agency-intro

How do you know if an SEO agency is any good? It could be that they are telling you something which they can’t live up to, it could also be that they are not good at pitching but might in the end be a really good agency.

All in all it is difficult to pinpoint what is a ‘good’ and what is a ‘bad’ agency. Find below some of the tips that could be used to spot a bad agency, according to the maker of this infographic, but what I’m more interested in is how do you recognize a “bad” SEO agency? (more…)

Google+ for Business

Google+businesses-infographic-intro

I get asked many times weekly whether I think businesses should take Google+ seriously. The answer is always a big fat yes, not so much because of the power of the network, but because there is going to be a significant influence on all Google products, including search.

But there is more, as this infographic, made by Blueglass for Chris Brogan, shows us. (more…)

The Noob Guide to Online Marketing

Noob-Guide-to-Online-Marketing-intro

We all know Online Marketing right? Its simple, its easy, anyone can do it. Or maybe not. If (online) marketers talk to ‘people on the streets’ they sometimes get strange faces of people who have no idea what they are talking about.

A Good Look At Social Media Demographics

Social-Media-Demographics-intro

I don’t think there is a marketer in the world who doesn’t look at demographics. Demographics on their target audience, demographics on properties they want to use to target that audience. In the perfect situation they match perfectly.

When we talk about Social Media demographics are always a bit ‘hard’. Yes, we know how many men and women there are, but with Social Media we want the demographics to be more specific. This infographic tries to be specific on not just gender, but also age, education and income. And not just for Facebook and Twitter, but also Google+, Reddit, Digg, Linkedin and, there it is again, Pinterest. (more…)

The Anatomy Of A Perfect Landing Page

landing-page-anatomy-intro

It is something which is important. You might be able to get the attention of the search engine and rank your site, the next step is probably even more important: the clicks to the landing page and what people do there.

You want people to stay on your site or at least do what they are ‘supposed’ to do there. But how to do that? This ‘conversion’ is an entire study and a very interesting one. Bryan Eisenberg talked about how to build the perfect landing page in Antwerp last year. His presentation called “Anatomy of the Perfect Landing Page” you can find below. At formstack they made an infographic about the same topic, which is below Bryan’s presentation. Start learning! (more…)

Small Business and Social Media

small-business-social-media-intro

“Social Media is ‘free’, but only the big brands with huge budgets know how to make it work.” That is what many starting out with Social think. But Social Media is very suitable for small business companies.

This infographic, made by Column Five, shows how some are getting it wrong, and why and what the best direction is. (more…)
