The opening keynote at SES London was done by Jeff Hayzlett (who we interviewed last year). A very interesting and inspiring talk. Mel Carson of Microsoft Advertising sat down with Jeff right after his keynote. You can see the interview below. Be sure to also look at the Microsoft Advertising blog, they are also covering SES London.
My first session of the day and a back and forth presentation between Andy Atkins-Krüger from WebCertain and Bill Hunt, SES Advisory Board and Back Azimuth Consulting.
They’re covering how to deal with companies who are targeting multiple markets or countries, and the complexities to be considered alongside standard SEO. The session looks at key issues critical to successfully developing, optimising, and launching multi-global websites.

The keynote was delivered by Jeff Hayzlett and was one of the most inspiring marketing talks that I’ve personally heard. He was faced with the challenge of transforming Kodak from a film company that was doing 15 billion dollars in consumer film 5 years ago. No one buys film any more so they needed to radically rethink their business to adapt to the 21st century.

Several months ago we were devistated when we heard that a good friend an well respected SEO in the UK had passed away after a tragic accident. Since the moment that the news about Jaamit Durrani’s death broke something happened which I have never seen before. The community started to move and delivered a tribute on Social Media which know no equal.
At the upcoming SES London this week the community will again be tributing this very special person who even after his death knows to touch people and get them moving. (more…)

One event which has been growing rapidly is the International Search Summit (ISS). The conference originally started of in London but it has been organized in both London, Berlin and Seattle in the past few years. And the organization keeps on expanding. In 2011 they are now joining forces with SMX to give that little extra touch to the conferences. International search has been very much underrated in the big search events. With the combination between ISS and SMX both will win. ISS will reach the bigger audience and SMX will get that valuable information from the International scene.
The International Search Summit is a conference series dedicated to international and multilingual search marketing and brings together some of the leading search marketing experts from around the globe. Conceived and hosted by multilingual web marketing agency WebCertain, it has been running since 2008 and from 2011 WebCertain is partnering with SMX to run the Summit at SMX events across Europe and North America.
The show will this year be organized in San José, Munich, London, Seattle and New York. (more…)

SES London 2011 is approaching rapidly and if you have a ticket or planning to get one you might be wondering: what sessions should I go to, what is interesting?
The obvious answer to that is: everything is and pick what fits you most. But you won’t get much further with that kind of information. So I asked the person who can tell us best what is in the program to highlight and pinpoint some sessions for you: the one who set up the program, Mike Grehan. (more…)
