A4U Expo Europe 2011 Preview – Munich Edition

munich-logo3

I’ll be heading out for A4U Expo Europe in a bit and thought it’ll be nice to give a quick overview on this years’ edition. The event will take place in beautiful Munich, again. The Hilton Park Hotel Munich will be the events location and things will kick-off on Monday evening with a first pre-party at the famous Vice Bar in central Munich. It’s gonna be the official networking party and a first chance for delegates to met with speakers, etc. – but also will be the first chance to register for the conference and collect the badge – that’ll save some value-able time on Tuesday. Expert Roundtables giving ‘that little extra’ to A4U Munich

Expert-Roundtables

I get the question more and more: what do you get out of conferences? For me the answer is always a bit different because of the fact State of Search coverages conferences and my speaking is far from aimed at getting clients, I don’t want clients, I want to speak, write and train. But for many others conferences are there for learning, sharing and networking. If you get one good lead or one good idea out of a conference you have had a good conferences.

A4U Expo has understood this pretty well and decided to act on it by helping attendees to make networking just a bit more easy. Like they did for the first time in London last year they are offering delegates the chance to take part in a selection of discussions, and debates at A4Uexpo Europe. (more…)

Kelvin Newman gets Questions from A4U

Kelvin Newman, State of Search blogger

At A4U Expo next week it will not just be the video interviews we will be doing by which you can recognize State of Search. It will also not just be the coverage we will be providing. It will also be the speakers that will be there.

On the speakers list of A4U Expo you will recognize a few familiar names. Not just from the industry, but also from this blog. For example our blogger Kelvin Newman will be speaking on the ‘How to Build Links which look Natural’-panel. The A4U team asked him some questions for their blog. Off course we were happy reading and writing along. (more…)

a4u-expo-munich-2011-interview-session

In little over a week’s time one of the bigger international affiliate / search events in Europe will start in Munich, Germany: A4U Expo Europe. This event again takes place in the Hilton Munich Park Hotel in Munich and will give us an insight on the world of affiliates in combination with search and social. How do affiliates handle the Panda Update? Is Social “the holy grail” for Affiliate Marketing? All questions that will be answered in Munich next week.

State of Search is as always media partner for A4U Munich. We will again be covering the event as usual, but this time we are doing something very special. In cooperation with A4U Expo and Linkdex we will be bringing you interviews with speakers and attendees from the floor of the expo hall! And if the technique works with us you will be able to get a LIVE insight into what is going on in Munich. (more…)

Enterprise Level SEO – SAScon 2011

Enterprise

Martin McDonald of OMD recently gave an excellent presentation at SAScon 2011 on the topic of Enterprise Level SEO. He talk followed Asif Hussan of MSN EMEA giving a rundown on how the team at Microsoft tackle SEO on a day to day basis.

For me Martins talk raised 3 key take away points; Get Shit Done, Teach SEO and Choose The Right Strategy. (more…)

Is Live Tweeting & Blogging Ruining Search Marketing Conferences?

tweet-wall

First up I need declare a bunch of caveats, I’ve spoken at loads of search marketing events, I arrange one and have attended absolutely loads of them. So take my following opinion and bias with a pinch of salt…but I’m really starting to wonder whether live blogging and particularly live tweeting is making the digital marketing conference a worse experience.

People not at the conference may really appreciate the play by play coverage but I think the whole phenomenon isn’t helping anyone, especially those who have paid—in many cases—hundreds of pounds to attend. (more…)

Presentations from SASCON 2011 and a special Rap Up

Last week was a week filled with conferences. After SMX and ISS we went up North in the UK to Manchester and visited SASCON. This conference (Search Analytics Social CONference) had much in it, including some big partying. On our special SASCON page we have collected links to posts about SASCON, the presentations and videos from the event.

But especially for you, here is the closing video of the SASCON conference, a very special rap up, which is a unique way of ending the conference (live-version also on the SASCON page). Plus we have collected all the presentations so far on slideshare and will add any others which will become available.
