Wrap Up of the International Search Summit – New York 2011

international-search-summit

The International Search Summit took place for the very first time in New York September 12th 2011 in association with SMX East at the Sheraton New York. Organised by Web Certain, the conference focused on multinational SEO & international Markets and was presented by an impressive line-up of speakers including Bill Hunt & Andy Atkins-Krüger

Sessions were fast paced and covered a lot of information for SEO’s regarding international search & project management from the ground up, what to consider, and a lot about what not to do with regards to Google Translate!

Topics included: strategic planning, SEM project management, global search & social trends, Geo-targeting, cultural differences, and fast growing markets such as Russia and Korea. Finishing off with interactive breakout sessions for either SEO or PPC for 1-to-1 Q&A.

Being new to international search, I found the day invaluable and was left wanting to know more about global markets and where else I should start to think about targeting.

The Best Bits of Brighton SEO – September 2011

brighton-SEO-logo

On Friday 9th September over 500 search marketers met at The Corn Exchange in Brighton for BrightonSEO. It was my first time attending this event, and in comparison with some of the pricier conferences, was definitely one of the best.

Kelvin Newman from Site Visibility has been running this free SEO conference since December 2009 where he started it alongside Jaamit Durrani who sadly passed away last year. The conference was a great success thanks to Kelvin, Amelia, all the speakers and the sponsors of the event. (more…)

Think Visibility 6: Lessons Learned and Top Takeaways (It’s not all about search…)

think vis

Six months ago, I was travelling up to Leeds for the Think Visibility conference preparing myself as a speaker to convince an audience that KPIs and reporting can be, will if not sexy, at least pretty fascinating and certainly useful. This weekend I was back up for Think Visibility 6 (and my 5th time at the conference) ready to sit back and enjoy someone else’s hard work and insights.

This is now my 3rd write-up of one of my favourite conferences in the calendar, and I’d say that alone pays testimony to its interest, increasingly amazing organisation and the loyalty of its fanbase. Many others are far more diligent than me and have written full conference write-ups. (See Pete Handley’s, Koozai and our very own Bas’ among others).  I’ve decided to take a wider angler, continuing on the Top Takeaway theme I used in my last write-up, and considering some of the specific things I’ve personally learned at ThinkVis. Thinkvisibility and Brighton SEO: Talent Pools, but Without the Scouts

scout

This weekend in Leeds the event “Thinkvisibility” took place. For the UK Search World this is one of the most famous conferences. World wide however it is one of the smaller players. This coming weekend in Brighton there is another similar conference taking place, organized by our very own Kelvin Newman: Brighton SEO.

Thinkvisibility and Brighton SEO are two conferences who have been around for quite a while. Thinkvisibility was already organized for the sixth time. But “Thinkvis” and “Brighton” are not the only ‘small’ conferences being organized at the moment. More and more we are seeing these intimate gatherings of SEOs, search marketers and those starting to learn the profession pop up. At the breakfast table the day after the conference other possibilities for similar events in other regions of the UK were already discussed. It seems like a trend. But it is a good trend, because the smaller conferences are the talent pools where the new search speakers are coming from. (more…)
