Taking place in the beautiful city of Munich right now is SMX München. My first time in Munich and my first time at a multi-lingual conference, SMX Munich is proving to be a real gem.

Set in Munich Park at the Hilton hotel, SMX Munich runs for two days with the International Search Summit providing an extra day of the very best that European and world search has to offer.

A spectacular line up including Rand Fishkin, Will Critchlow, Marcus Tandler, State-of-Searchers Bastian Grimm and Evert Veldhuijzen, Sepita Asnam and many more leading German and European Marketers. (more…)

SEO Tools for Pulling Rank – SES New york 2012 #SESny

5

No sooner is one SES over than another begins. This time, it’s SES New York 2012! Many of the New York sessions follow a similar programme to that of SES London in February (see our SES London 2012 coverage) but with a new set of speakers there is always something new to learn.

My standout session from Day 1 was without a doubt ‘The Tools of the Trade for SEO’. Even though a similar session was covered in London, a new set of speakers means a new set of tools and maybe something new for you to look at.

move-fast-and-break-things

The search engine marketing track started off with a superb insight into the culture of Facebook from Chris Dowd. Followed by Phil Greenwood sharing start up tips, Ólafur Kr. RIMC 2012 – The Reykjavik Internet Marketing Conference – Internet Marketing Track #RIMC12

More great content with an internet marketing slant. Really useful information regarding challenging the perceptions that clients have of how ‘social works’ from Matt Neal, an excellent presentation on the blurring of work and real lives and how Social Media Policies in the workplace are becoming more important from Massimo Burgio, and gTLD’s from Ludvik Hoegh-Krohn.

RIMC 2012 – The Reykjavik Internet Marketing Conference – Iceland #RIMC12

RIMC2012

Having never been to Iceland, the RIMC (Reykjavik Internet Marketing Conference) was a must on the agenda for the year, but I had no idea that I was going on a trip that would totally blow my mind!

Not only was the conference outstanding, the organisation of a series of events for speakers (and me as a very lucky guest) has ensured that Iceland now has a place in my heart, and I will always speak highly of this very special conference and very special country! (more…)

Think Visibility 7 Round-Up

think-visability-logo

It’s that time again folks – yes – it really has been 6 months since the last Think Visibility Conference or #thinkvis as it’s more widely known. Held in the usual venue of the Alea Casino in Leeds, Think Visibility 7 was for me one of the most creative and fun yet! A fantastic range of speakers from the brand new to the seasoned pro, and some of the funniest talks (and sights) I have seen on the circuit to date; including a presentation by Chewbacca, bouncy castle and ball pool! The lunchtime entertainment was also a bonus as yours truly got to shoot people in the face wearing a pig mask in the ‘weakest link’ parody!

Why Content Strategy Is Crucial for Social Search

topman-case-study

This is a wrap up of the session “Why Content Strategy is Crucial for Social Search” from SES London 2012. The session had the speakers Chris Boggs (SES Advisory Board; Director, SEO, Rosetta), Rachel Hawkes (Account Director, Elemental) and Krista LaRiviere, (CoFounder & CEO, gShift Labs) speaking.

This session was concerned with how social media affects search results and activity within the search results. Concentrating on search results in .com given that we are not seeing everything on .co.uk (yet!), but definitely the shape of things to come.

Site Redesign? Don’t Forget SEO Migration! #SESLondon

seo-roi

If you moved home you wouldn’t think twice about having your mail re-directed or telling your friends your new address. In fact, you may go out of your way to make sure everyone knows by throwing a house warming party and sending out invitations. However, a surprising amount of businesses when changing their website address or making significant changes to their web pages, CMS, content or URL’s let anyone know at all – least of all search engines.
