It found for example that 96% of CMO’s are now looking at more than just sales when it comes to social media. 68% of them however measures the success by site traffic. Most ROI comes from Facebook, followed by review sites. And that Social Media is a big hit when it comes to recruiting we already knew. (more…)

Not pretty: Carol Bartz Fired as CEO of Yahoo on the Phone, responds via email

Carol-Bartz-goodbye

If she was successful or not is open for discussion. Fact is that the board of directors from Yahoo thought it was enough: they sacked Carol Bartz. CFO Tim Morse is temporarily taking over.

Apparently Bartz has been sacked by Chairman of the Yahoo! Board Roy Bostock, together with none other than Jerry Yang himself. The cruel thing is that he sacked her over the phone.

Bartz responded in a way which shows the break up hasn’t gone smoothly with consent from both sides. She drop an e-mail to all the Yahoo employees saying she got fired over the phone. (more…)

Looking at your Internal Link Structure: do they work?

Links are widely considered to be one of the, if not the most important ranking element. Getting the right links is hugely important. But also the links within your site play a big role. It is an indication

Pageranksculpting is a way of making sure your internal structure is in order. But the question is: is this important? Matt Cutts answered a question about this: “If we add more than one links from page A to page B, do we pass more PageRank juice and additional anchor text info? Also can you tell us if links from A to A count?”. The important part in this video is to watch Matt Cutts’ fingers. And in the first part he is quite open for his standards.

spam-scam-1

I don’t know about you, but I’ve seen a huge increase in spam messages on Twitter in the past week. And the sad thing is, that it is not just bots doing it, but genuine accounts are being hacked. Twitter is mainstream now, which means that that is where the hackers go. I’ve had several spam messages from people I know in the past few days.

All I can tell people is to clean up their Twitter accounts, see who you follow, change your password if necessary and be sure to check the applications connected to your account. If there is one you don’t recognize or don’t trust: revoke the access!

Twitter spam is nothing new, but as said, things have increased very much. Impermium found that the percentage of social networking accounts which are fraudulent ranges from 5 percent to 40 percent. So they made this infographic which shows that scammers are becoming more sophisticated every day. (more…)

Google knows more and more about us. It knows our moves, it knows where we’ve been and what we like best. That can be very handy. But it can also be very scary. What if Google would be a person? And that person would know everything about us. Do you think we would like that?

It must be hell working at Google and being responsible for thinking of new Google Doodles. Not because it is no fun, but because the challenges are becoming almost impossible.
